Health Care Assistants
Our Health Care Assistants are Joanne Lee and Lynette Edwards who are trained to carry out ECGs, blood tests, new patient medical checks, routine blood pressure checks and 24hr ambulatory blood pressure assessments.
Lynette Edwards and Alison Moore are our prescribing clerks. They will assist if you have queries concerning the arrangements you can make for the issue of your repeat prescriptions, their collection by the Pharmacy and home deliveries etc.
The practice has staff trained to take bloods for tests at the hospital. Please remember that blood transported to the hospital may not give the same high quality results as blood taken at the hospital and processed soon thereafter. We limit the numbers we can do to those patients who are unwell and infirm and for whom a journey to the hospital would be an ordeal.
We have KCA Practice Counsellors. They are able to offer brief focused confidential counselling (maximum of eight sessions of 50 minutes each) to anyone within the practice for any of the following reasons: anxiety, stress, mild depression, low self-esteem, relationship problems, bereavement and loss, redundancy and retirement, and those who have concerns about their own or someone else's use of prescribed or non-prescribed drugs, tobacco or solvents. Patient's requiring alcohol counselling are referred to The Mount Zeehan Alcohol Dependancy Service.
District Nursing Team
The district nursing team consists of trained nurses and health care assistants. The service provides 24 hour high quality care based on the needs and priorities of the practice population. Patients are supported and encouraged to maximise independence and to promote health. District nurses have an open referral system and messages can be left between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday at the surgery by telephoning 01843 222788. The out-of hours services can be contacted through South East Health.
The midwives attached to The Limes Medical Centre offer a full range of pre-natal and ante-natal care, support and guidance during pregnancy and confinement, and are always contactable as members of the Poppy Team through Kingsgate Ward at The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Hospital on 01843 225544. They are always happy to answer your questions and, if necessary, home visits can be arranged to suit your needs.
The health visitors are nurses with a specialist training and work with families and in particular children under five years of age. Their role includes home visiting, developmental assessments, child health clinics and health education. Child health clinics are held at the College Road Clinic. The health visitors are based at College Road Clinic and can be contacted there on 01843 255175, Monday to Friday.
Our Practice Manager is Mrs Julie Sandum. Julie's role is to ensure the smooth running of the practice, dealing with all aspects of the administrative and non-medical aspects of the practice. Julie is available to discuss any suggestions or complaints.
Our other loyal staff members are a full time and part-time secretary, a computer data entry clerk, six receptionists and two prescription clerks.
